Chillicothe Players Theatre is a non-profit community theatre in Chillicothe, Illinois, proudly active since the early 1990s. We bring the magic of live performance to our community through a wide variety of productions—ranging from comedies and dramas to youth theatre, holiday specials, and mysteries. What makes it special is the people. Teachers, mechanics, students, librarians, and shop owners all share the stage. Opening night often fills the house not because the show is famous, but because everyone knows someone in the cast. Our theatre is a space where creativity feels democratic, where applause is affectionate, and where the shared act of putting on a show ties the whole town just a little closer together.
Our youth productions are especially beloved and are pure, joyful chaos. Kids and teens of all experience levels spend the spring and summer rehearsing to put on a beloved musical each June at Illinois Valley Central High School (IVCHS). Adult performances are typically presented at the historic Shore Acres Clubhouse, where audiences enjoy an intimate and welcoming atmosphere.

After being convicted of a petty crime, a charming, rebellious rogue named McMurphy contrives to serve his short sentence in an airy mental institution rather than in a prison. This, he soon learns, was a mistake. He immediately clashes with the authoritarian head nurse, a fierce martinet named Nurse Ratched.

Instead of performing Charles Dickens' beloved holiday classic for the umpteenth time, three actors decide to perform every Christmas story ever told -- plus Christmas traditions from around the world, seasonal icons from ancient times to topical pop-culture, and every carol ever sung. A madcap romp through the holiday season!
